Maywood Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
When:Maywood Hall of Fame Will Induct Maywood American Legion Post and Unit 142
The Maywood, New Jersey Hall of Fame was established in 2016 to recognize and honor current or former Maywood residents, organizations or business owners whose achievements, impact or celebrity in a wide variety of fields make them notable in the history of the Borough.
The Maywood Historical Advisory Committee is happy to announce that the Maywood American Legion Post and Unit No. 142 will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Sunday, November 6 at 2 p.m., at the Maywood Recreation Center (145 West Magnolia Avenue, Maywood, NJ).
American Legion Post #142 was organized in 1919, after World War I, and is open to veterans of all military branches who have served in any war since. Its members have been actively involved in a wide range of veterans affairs programs and community service activities: Veterans’ Day and Memorial Day observances, Fourth of July celebrations, safety essay contests, visits to V.A. hospitals, citizenship and scholarship awards for students, and much more.
In 1930 the Auxiliary Unit #142 was formed and has ably assisted in the community work of the Post, as well as initiated its own distinct activities, including poppy sales, gifts to military members and veterans, and the like.
All are welcome to celebrate these valuable community volunteer organizations.
