July 4th Parade Committee Grand Marshall Nominations, Poem Contest & Parade Theme

Nominations for Grand Marshall for the 2025 July 4th Parade are due May 1, 2025. Nominees must be a resident of Maywood and have served the Borough of Maywood in some capacity. Letters of nomination with a description of why you feel the nominee should be Grand Marshall should be mailed to Martha DeYoung, 8 Orchard Place, Maywood, NJ 07607. Please mark on the outside of the envelope “2025 Grand Marshall Nomination”.

The July 4th Parade Committee will have a Poem contest for this year’s Parade. The Theme is “Honoring Maywood Veterans Who Made The Supreme Sacrifice For Our Country”. The contest is sponsored by the Maywood Historical Committee with a prize to be determined by said Committee.  Any Maywood resident who is a student in the 4th through 8th grades may enter this contest.  The poem must be about the above theme. The winner’s poem will be included in the 2025 July 4th Program and the winner will be invited to ride in the Parade.  Entries must be mailed to Martha DeYoung, 8 Orchard Place, Maywood, NJ 07607 by May 23, 2025. Please mark on the envelope “Poem Contest”.

At the March 5, 2025 July 4th Parade Committee meeting, the Committee selected “Honoring Maywood Veterans Who Made The Supreme Sacrifice For Our Country" as the theme for this year’s Parade.  Organizations, floats, costumed children or decorated bicycles are encouraged to dress or decorate according to the above theme.
